For over 30 years, Tim has assisted clients with patent preparation and prosecution, due diligence, and portfolio management.
He has handled contested matters before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, including post-grant proceedings such as inter partes reviews (IPRs) before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) and trademark oppositions before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB).

Tim also advises clients on open source software and OpenChain compliance, open source patent issues, and developing and implementing corporate policies on use of open source software.
Prior to joining the firm, Tim held engineering, product management, and sales positions at AT&T Bell Laboratories, AT&T Network Systems, and Bellcore.
Tim is a member of the Boston Intellectual Property Law Association (BIPLA), the Licensing Executives Society (LES), and the International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys (FICPI). He has served as a judge for both the MassChallenge accelerator program and the LES Foundation’s International Business Plan Competition, and as a mentor for the MIT Enterprise Forum Mentor Smart program. Tim has also been an Adjunct Professor of Patent Law at the University of New Hampshire (formerly Franklin Pierce) Law Center for Intellectual Property. In 2024, Tim was recognized by Super Lawyers®, a rating of outstanding lawyers who have attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement
