Deirdre Sanders Serving on Advisory Board for Northeastern University’s Chapter of the National Academy of Inventors

Boston, MA – Deirdre Sanders, a Principal at the intellectual property law firm Hamilton Brook Smith Reynolds, has been elected to serve on the Advisory Board for the newly established Chapter of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI) at Northeastern University.

Northeastern’s Chapter of the National Academy of Inventors serves to empower inventorship and entrepreneurship across the innovation ecosystem by recognizing, inspiring, educating, and connecting, members of the academic and industrial communities.

Deirdre stated, "I am honored to join the Advisory Board of Northeastern University’s Chapter of the National Academy of Inventors.  Northeastern University has always been a leader in supporting innovation, both locally and globally, and the NAI Chapter will be a great way to further serve the needs of inventors in our community."

Deirdre has 28 years of experience in strategic biotechnology and life sciences patent prosecution counseling with a strong history of serving the needs of universities and innovation centers nationwide and globally.

Deirdre was inducted as an Honorary Member at the inaugural event for the Chapter, which was held at Northeastern University.

Jennifer Boyle-Lynch, Executive Director of Northeastern’s Center for Research Innovation, provided the opening remarks for the occasion.  She commented, "The Center for Research Innovation has worked with Deirdre for years and we’re so pleased to have her join the advisory board for Northeastern’s National Academy of Inventors Chapter. Her knowledge, experience, and deep relationships with our research community will be invaluable as we launch and grow the chapter.”

Danielle Curcio and Joseph Preiss of Raytheon gave an interesting and informative fireside chat, and Vincent Harris, David Madigan and David Luzzi of Northeastern University also provided remarks, along with Richard Maulsby, Senior Advisor of the NAI.

The NAI was founded in 2010 to recognize and encourage inventors with patents issued from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, enhance the visibility of academic technology and innovation, encourage the disclosure of intellectual property, educate and mentor innovative students, and translate the inventions of its members to benefit society.
