Role Brings Together Over 900 Intellectual Property Related Professionals in the Boston Area
CONCORD, MA, December 6, 2018 - Hamilton Brook Smith Reynolds is pleased to announce that Principal Deirdre Sanders has been sworn in as the new President of the Boston Patent Law Association (BPLA) and has assumed the duties of the office. In her role as President, Ms. Sanders will be responsible for managing an agenda to reflect the intellectual property issues and opportunities for 2019. Her role will include leading the Board of Directors, supporting over 45 BPLA events, issuing weekly communications, and providing formal comments on IP related laws and regulations.
Ms. Sanders said, “The BPLA remains at the forefront of intellectual property law and I intend to continue that tradition of excellence.” Ms. Sanders added that “During my term as President, the BPLA will maintain the high standards our members create and value, and I look forward to working with our Board and members to further the organization’s mission.”
During her 20 plus years as a patent lawyer, Ms. Sanders has focused on life science patent prosecution, litigation and client counseling, and she has significant experience in the U.S. and internationally.
The BPLA is an association of intellectual property professionals in the New England region, which is the Federal First Circuit. The mission of the BPLA is to provide educational programs and a forum for the interchange of ideas and information concerning patent, trademark, and copyright laws. Through a volunteer Board of Governors and its various committees, the BPLA organizes and hosts educational seminars, social events, and symposiums. The Association also submits formal comments on rules and legislation affecting the profession and rights of intellectual property holders.
Since 1924, the BPLA has worked to address issues important to the Intellectual Property community, bringing together more than 1,000 lawyers, law students, technology specialists and other professionals dedicated to advancing the intellectual property profession.
Ms. Sanders has served on the BPLA Board of Governors since 2012 in a number of capacities. Most recently, Ms. Sanders served as President-Elect, where she worked with the BPLA’s committee chairs to create and manage BPLA educational and social events throughout the year. Prior to becoming a Board member, Ms. Sanders served as co-chair of the International & Foreign Practice Committee. Hamilton Brook Smith Reynolds has a long legacy of BPLA leadership, including past Presidents John DuPré, Susan Glovsky and Mark Solomon.
