Benjamin Silvers and Edward Xu, Ph.D. Join Hamilton Brook Smith Reynolds

Hamilton Brook Smith Reynolds is pleased to announce that Benjamin Silvers has joined the firm as an Associate. Ben specializes in U.S. and international trademark application preparation and prosecution, with expertise across all phases of trademark prosecution, from clearance searches through registration.
Before joining the firm, Ben gained experience as a legal intern at prominent intellectual property and general law practice firms. During this time, he worked with clients in the fields of pharmaceutical manufacturing, biotechnology, medical devices, consumer products, entertainment, fashion, and art.
Ben is a graduate of Boston University School of Law, having served as a staff editor on the Boston University Journal of Science and Technology Law, a research assistant for Professors Jessica Silbey (copyright law) and Michael Meurer (patent law), and the President of the Boston University Intellectual Property Law Society.

Edward Xu, Ph.D., has joined the firm as a Technology Specialist. Ed earned his Ph.D. in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from Northeastern University.
Ed assists with patent preparation and prosecution in the areas of biomedical and electrical engineering, biomedical imaging, optics, medical and wearable devices, imaging software, biochemistry, bioinformatics, and information systems. His specific technology expertise includes diffuse optical imaging, image reconstruction algorithms, open source software, multi-physics simulation, image processing and analysis, machine/deep learning, computer vision, database development, real-time and embedded systems, computer-aided design, and health informatics.
