Summer Associates at Hamilton Brook Smith Reynolds enjoy a valuable opportunity to experience the work environment and the depth of resources available within the firm.
For law students who have committed to a career in intellectual property law, we offer some of the most challenging opportunities to work with as high-profile a client list as you will find in any IP practice in the country, including many major corporations and institutions as well as individual, entrepreneurial inventors. You will use your technical or scientific background to assist in crafting effective patent prosecution strategies for leading edge thought and innovation. As part of a team, you will develop an appreciation for the role that intellectual property protection plays in the client's business planning and success.
The Summer Associate Program at Hamilton Brook Smith Reynolds is designed to provide a “real-world” work experience at our firm. Summer associates will work with attorneys in the practice group of their particular technical or scientific expertise.
Work assignments include technical and legal research, reviewing applications during their development and drafting basic supporting documents. Summer Associates receive both formal and informal feedback and evaluations throughout the summer. They also participate in training, webinars and seminars on intellectual property law. Social events are scheduled throughout the summer as an opportunity for summer associates to get acquainted with the firm’s legal staff outside of the work environment. Our past Summer Programs have included a golf outing, hiking, firm dinners, a wine tasting, and a team cooking event.
By the end of the program, our goal is for summer associates to have a thorough understanding of our client-base and the work environment they will encounter as full-time associates.
Hamilton Brook Smith Reynolds is the firm that will allow you to realize the greatest long-term return on what you have invested in your career.
